                                   KACG History

In 1974 a group of individuals taking painting classes through Forsyth Tech asked their
instructor Virginia Barrow to help them start an Arts and Crafts guild in Kernersville.
Virginia was a member of the Winston-Salem Arts and Crafts Guild, and contacted
Ozzie Ozborne (no, not that one) to assist us.  A meeting was set up in the
Kernersville Library and had 38 people attending.  With guidance from Ozzie three
formative meetings were held and on May 22, 1975 the first formal KACG meeting
was held with Becky Mohlar elected as President of the non-profit Kernersville Arts
and Crafts Guild.  Only 2 charter members, Anita Berrier (who also designed the
KACG logo) and Phyllis Lennon are still active.

KACG holds several shows yearly in Kernersville, including the annual Spring Folly, Christmas in July, Fall Craft Show, and the very popular Christmas store.

We welcome all applicants for membership to a screening by the KACG board to ensure high standards and quality of the product.  We promote creativity, excellence, diversity in our membership.

Thank you for visiting the KACG website.  We encourage you to also visit the websites of our members through our links.  We also invite you to visit our shows.  Please come by our website often to check our schedule of meetings and events. We hope to see you
soon.
